It can often be challenging to believe in the thought that the journey or the road traveled is just as important as the destination. It sounds like something you’d see on a commercial for…. well, maybe a medication like Wegovy.
I’m goal-oriented and I don’t often stop to smell the roses, and I keep my eye on the prize. Process is a bit less important as long as the final result is something spectacular.
Losing weight, because it is a slow process, is all about the journey though. It’s about the decisions you make every day that come together to create an overall picture of your health and wellness. 1 run today doesn’t necessarily amount to change unless it’s combined with other inputs (more runs, focus on nutrition, small decisions like taking the stairs vs. the elevator, etc.). Weight loss is all about culmination because it happens over the longterm and requires lots of small decisions that come together over time.
So, in honor of taking time to stop and honor the day to day to accomplishments, where it is hard to see the results of effort and change, I want to share A to B by Matt Hires, which focuses on the middle, not just the start and finish, so take time to be present because you don’t know what is around the corner!
Full Lyrics
Darling, nothing ever goes exactly how you planned it
I guess I’ve been here long enough to see
That time can be your dearest friend
Or time can be a bandit
When tomorrow changes into history
And oh my my, honey everybody dies
But you got, you got to see
That you can live your life walking in a straight line
But it’s more than just A to B
Maybe it’ll find you lying peaceful under blankets
Or bleeding at the bottom of the stairs
Oh but it’s not when or how you go
It’s life and what you make it
It’s the traveling, not the road that gets you there
Oh my my, honey everybody dies
But you got, you got to see
That you can live your life walking in a straight line
But it’s more than just A to B
So when those funeral drums are rumbling
Like some slow and steady thunder
I’ll say my last goodbyes and walk away
I’ll step into the river
Let the current pull me under
And just fall into that infinite embrace
And oh my my, honey everybody dies
But you got, you got to see
That you can live your life walking in a straight line
But it’s more than just A to B
Oh my my, honey everybody dies
But you got, you got to see
That you can live your life walking in a straight line
But it’s more than just A to B
Yeah, it’s more than just A to B
