We can do anything!
Okay, so this anthem is a bit more positive than I usually go, but we can do HARD things for sure, and part of the reason I chose this song this week is because of the line slaying like it’s 1999. In 1999, I was NOT slaying at all. Just about to enter high school, having a hard time with my identity and so many things yet to uncover. Teenage years are awkward for everyone, and I think I was especially lost being closeted, overweight (but not understanding the impact it was having on me), social anxiety, the opposites of slaying. But, 2 short years after that, I found a gateway to slay: Upward Bound. A program that changed the trajectory of my life, giving me people and resources that would eventually lead to me come out and live authentically, lose 100 lbs, and do so much more than I ever thought I could be. So, sometimes our slay is silent, but doesn’t mean it can’t awaken!
Also, Buffy the Vampire Slayer has been one of my favorite shows almost my whole life and got me through a lot of hard times AND the new Buffy audio stories was released last week!
